Professor Sir Konstantin Sergeevich Novoselov FRS, Director of the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), has been elected as a Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS).
The SNAS Fellowship is the pinnacle of scientific recognition conferred by a science society in Singapore. It honours individuals for their exceptional and enduring contributions to science and education, as well as their contributions to Singapore’s research and innovation ecosystem.
Prof Novoselov is a Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor at NUS and a faculty member of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the College of Design and Engineering. His research spans condensed matter physics, mesoscopic physics and nanotechnology, with broad interests including graphene and other two-dimensional (2D) materials.
In 2010, Prof Novoselov, together with Prof Andre Geim, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their groundbreaking research on graphene. His work on graphene and 2D materials has contributed significantly to the development of new directions in multidisciplinary materials research.
For his transformative and seminal discovery of graphene and exploration of other 2D materials, Prof Novoselov joins the prestigious ranks of SNAS Fellows, with only 62 Fellows inducted since 2011.
