Congratulations to Zhou Xiangyu, a fourth-year I-FIM PhD candidate, on receiving the Research Excellence Award at MatterX 2026: MSE Annual Research Congress, organised by the Materials Research Society Singapore (MRS-S).
The award recognises his Outstanding Oral Presentation (PhD Category) at the congress, held at the National University of Singapore on 22 September 2026. Xiangyu is pursuing his doctoral research under the supervision of Assistant Professor Denis Bandurin.
His presentation, titled “Millikelvin Terahertz Spectroscopy of Graphene-Based Quantum Systems,” explored advanced materials and their response to light at extremely low temperatures.
Xiangyu’s research combines laser spectroscopy with ultra-low-temperature measurements to investigate fundamental physical mechanisms relevant to future quantum and photonic technologies.
