Biography
Dr Luiza Felippi de Lima is a materials scientist and biotechnologist with expertise in experimental research spanning biosensors, ceramics, composites, and the characterisation of advanced materials. She is currently a Research Assistant at the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she contributes to multidisciplinary research at the interface of materials science, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Dr Lima obtained her PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Caxias do Sul, Brazil, where her doctoral research focused on the development of magnetoelastic biosensors for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis. During her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), Portugal, working on nanomagnetic and sensor technologies. She also holds a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, both from the University of Caxias do Sul. Her research interests include biosensors, nanomaterials, biomaterials, ceramics and glass-ceramics, materials processing, and advanced characterisation techniques, with a growing focus on 2D materials and graphene-based devices. Dr Lima has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at international conferences. Her background combines rigorous experimental skills with interdisciplinary collaboration across academia and applied research environments.
