A 17-member delegation from the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) visited the University of Brunei on 12 February 2023 to participate in research collaboration talks and to a joint workshop with the Centre for Advanced Materials and Energy Sciences (CAMES) of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
This arose from a Trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreed upon between the Centre for Advanced 2D Materials (CA2DM) and the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Centre for Advanced Materials and Energy Sciences (CAMES) of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). The MOU agreed to embark on research and academic exchange, mobility programmes for scientists and student, and joint meetings and symposia.
I-FIM’s director Prof. Konstantin Novoselov was invited to deliver the Nobel Laureate Lecture in the morning at the newly open Pro-chancellor Art Centre at UBD. The lecture was attended by faculty and students at the University of Brunei, guests from the diplomatic corp, industry, and high school students. In the afternoon, the I-FIM delegation joined its counterparts from CAMES to deliver research talks to scientific colleagues at UBD.
